Children arrive in different ways; birth, adoption, surrogacy, fostering, step children…Each child is unique, even if the birth parents are the same. We are all born to be …us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No child comes with a set of rules for parenting, most of us make it up as we go along. One size definitely does not fit all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have 3 adopted children & each one presents challenges & joys. My youngest has complex needs & whilst they have all taught me something about myself (!) my youngest has taken me to a whole new ?! I have had to become a shape shifter, adaptable..sometimes I forget how I am supposed to be! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The main things that I have learnt along the way:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Choose my battles wisely⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Check- will this still matter tomorrow? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Control is an illusion⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Humour is essential ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️I am the adult! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Untidy rooms are just that- we have doors for a reason! Be available ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Do not bare ( not sure if ‘bear’??!!) a grudge ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Manage my own anxiety ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Arguments are pointless & wounding⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can say in my home that I am not perfect, but I trying to remember that they will not be living at home forever & then I shall miss them ( not their mess or moods!!?). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This too shall pass….Anxiety Workbook can help them & you navigate theses stormy waters. Available through Amazon!
