Counselling is a complex subject.
There are many differing, theoretical approaches and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy ( www.bacp.co.uk) is a good place to start if you feel like you wish to understand the theory, before choosing a counsellor.
I am qualified as an Accredited Integrative Counsellor and so utilise therapies that fit you and your individual needs. I use creative approaches, if appropriate.
I believe that no one approach fits all, just as you are an individual, so should your therapy be. I believe that the most important factor is the relationship that is built between me (the counsellor) and you. We go at your speed and regularly review how things are going. Understanding how we have become the people we are is often a helpful process to improving future happiness &/or acceptance.
I know that taking that first step is sometimes daunting. Take as long as you need, it is a very important decision, hopefully lifechanging!
