Anxiety:

Anxiety is a normal part of our lives. It makes us perform better, try harder. But sometimes it can prevent us from doing things, from living a full and varied life. Anxiety triggers our survival mode, it heightens our bodily responses ready in case we are attacked. Primitive but effective. However most of the time the response is too great for the challenges faced in modern life. Then anxiety becomes habitual and damaging to our health, physically and emotionally. Depression:

“Depression is a common mental disorder that causes people to experience depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, low energy, and poor concentration.”Unhappiness is normal to all people at times but depression is an intense feeling of hopelessness, sadness that does not lift but permeates every aspect of your life. (mentalhealth.org.uk). Depression can effect anyone, from any social strata or age group. Money and success does not make you immune. For about half of the sufferers, it only happens once, but fro others it can recur. Trauma:

“Traumatic events usually come out of the blue. Accidents, illnesses, disasters, assault, combat, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse are all events which are potentially traumatic. Such events can leave us feeling shocked, disorientated, and distressed. We may feel like our world has been turned upside down.: ( BACP).  Trauma manifests itself in many different ways and is very individual. Sometimes the effects will disappear naturally over a number of weeks, sometimes they remain and can intensify, effecting eating, sleeping, mood, relationships etc. This is when seeking professional help is advised. Secondary Trauma:

” Vicarious trauma, also known as secondary trauma, can be described as indirect exposure to a traumatic event through first-hand account or narrative of that event. People in the helping professions—counselors and therapists, rescue workers, police officers, doctors, and lawyers—may be at risk of vicarious traumatization. This can also happen to parents/carers of traumatised young people. It can lead to depression, anger, anxiety, feeling son loss and low self worth. Anorexia: 

“is an eating disorder and serious mental health conditionPeople who have anorexia try to keep their weight as low as possible by not eating enough food or exercising too much, or both. This can make them very ill because the to starve.They often have a distorted image of their bodies, thinking they are fat even when they are underweight. Men and women of any age can get anorexia, but it’s most common in young women and typically starts in the mid-teens.” (nhs.uk/conditions/anorexia/). Anorexia means that the person affected will consider themselves to be fat even when they are well below a healthy weight. They feel depressed and anxious. To loose weight is the only achievement in life an all food is surrounded by fear of getting fat. It affects a person psychologically but also physically, they lose weight, bone density, fertility.
